Life Flashes

Cody’s homeland is ravished by a faceless silent intruder, who moves in slow motion. The death toll rises almost undetected, unreported until now.

Season 1, Episode 13

Life Flashes is written by Don Newton please visit his  Website and check out his novels in Amazon

When I was about ten years old I almost died. I pedaled my bicycle to the top of a busy street and then I gunned it down. Most people would take their time, use caution and process the ramifications, but remember I was ten. Thinking ahead and utilizing risk analysis was a foreign concept.

The traffic light turned red. My bicycle was moving at light speed. The cars started to move. I hit the brakes but it was too late. When they say, ‘Life Flashes before your eyes’ they are right. All of my past memories flooded to the surface. Each thought was sharp, distinct.

I knew this was the end, no redo or second chances. I screamed but then I accepted it.I barrelled half way through the intersection narrowly missing the vehicles, jumped the curb and crashed into a street lamp. My bike wrapped around the pole, thankfully I survived without a scar.

Ultimate Unboxing Video

Trevor, a nondescript YouTube geek, struggles at the bottom of the ratings. He received an Amazon package from the other side of the universe that changed his life forever.

Season 1, Episode 12

This episode is dedicated to Elvis, not that Elvis, but to my big brother. He’s into Drones, and other radio controlled vehicles. His channel, Toronto RC, is the best RC channel on YouTube. I’m not saying that because he’s my brother or probably I am.

The Ultimate Unboxing video is a modern day tale of how far a person can go to achieve fame. Many of us are not satisfied with our carrier or current life status, we long for a promotion, for the office window seat, to be recognized as an influencer in our field.

Social media has made it possible to turn a nobody into a living icon with one viral video. If your lucky your blog post, tweet or rant could be picked up by a major network making you into an overnight sensation. But you have better chances of being struck by lightning or winning the lotto max, non the less people kill themselves for the price of fame.

Why do we do this?I think the answer is immortality. We want to leave our mark and not a footnote. We want our star to continue to shine long after we’re gone.

Eric Raven, are intrepid astronaut who embarked on a one way mission to Mars comes face to face with his doppelganger 400 years into the future.

Season 1, Episode 11

Dark Samaritan, the writer of the Quickening series has outdone himself by adding more complexities and intrigue into the current episode.I enjoy when a writer takes a familiar theme such as time travel, and morphs it into a different direction.

Dark Samaritan is also good at placing ordinary characters into extraordinary situations. You can follow him on Twitter @Samaritandark The poem on the jail-cell wall is by the Nigerian poet and friend to the show, Okon Ukeme Cornelius Dominic, his Twitter is @Apoeticnovelist His book The Accent Ascent Of the soul is available on Amazon

Arrow Of Time Part 1

I had an argument with someone about the concept of time, things got heated this episode is inspired by that altercation.

Season 1, Episode 10

Brief History Arrow of time, or times arrow is the idea that time is linear. British astronomer Arthur Eddington developed the concept in 1927.The arrow of time remains an unresolved General physics question. The analogy of an arrow is clear and unambiguous in our collective conscience, most of us know what a physical arrow looks like. We have seen it in Lord of the Rings or Hunger Games, how can anyone forget Jennifer Lawrence and her archery techniques. An arrow releases from the bow, slices through the air until it strikes the mark.In Eddington’s mind time is fixed, a beginning and end.

Stephen Hawking’s book,  Brief History Of Time, he devotes a whole chapter to the arrow of time. I highly recommend this book to you even if your not a science nerd like myself.Hawkins describes the big bang, (no not the TV show, stay focused) and also the big crunch as an arrow from start to finish. However when the arrow, meaning time, meets the end it changes directions and goes backwards. If your an 80’s baby like myself your teacher played movies from a film projector, when the film was over everyone asked her to play it backwards. We got a kick out of seeing a broken plate reassemble and placed back on the kitchen table. People walking backwards, cars driving backwards and people talking backwards. The backwards movie was way more interesting. Hawking said that time may reverse, picture Benjamin Button.

The movie starts with Benjamin as an old man, as it progresses he gets younger and younger. (Warning, spoiler ahead) At the end of the movie he’s reduced to a baby. I don’t think the arrow of time can be reversed, but I’m a poet not a scientist keep this in mind when you listen to this episode. Each story is very personal to me and also therapeutic. My prayer is that it will help you slow down and ponder the fleeting nature of life.Part 2 will arrive sometime in the near future.

Political Hot Potato

If you enjoyed the last episode your going to hate this one. We get down and dirty and talk about politics. Make sure you have your over mittens ready and hit play.

Season 1, Episode 9

Part 1

White Guilt

Why should my white brothers and sisters pay for the sins of their ancestors.

Slavery is an ugly stain on the American conscious, the idea of owning a human being sounds ridiculous in are modern times. Thankfully America has turned away from its once standard practice.

Progression has been made, though not perfect, it’s come a long way from the cotton fields. Reparations will not heal the sins of the past, listen and find out why.

Part 2

4th of July

Politics could be divisive, separating people into blue and red states. I have never seen a time when tension is so high, each party wants to prove the other party wrong.

What happens when political affiliations comes between a marriage, stay tuned to find out.

Part 3

Donald Trump and the Purpose of the Universe

This part may get me into hot water, even though I’m Canadian and not allowed to vote in the States.

Trump has made some awful decisions, but to demonize him and blame him for all the mess in the world is faulty logic.

Have an open mind and listen before you throw stones.

Part 4

First World Problems

I live in Canada, the most peaceful country on Earth. We got it good here except for the crappy weather.

It’s our civic duty to vote to make sure the right person is in power. However I was not going to vote until I met a Somalian Uber driver, listen and find out.

Morning Ritual

You never know where temptation will strike

Season 1, episode 7

I shuffled to my usual seat like a well trained army vet. I looked through the bus window, avoiding eye contact took off my backpack and cleared my mind from distractions.

She took out a compact mirror and a small device to manipulate her eyelashes, and a rose coloured lipstick that smelt like cinnamon. But I wasn’t looking.

My mind is a razor sharp instrument, free from low v neck dresses and well curved assets, free from long toned legs and high heeled shoes.

Unlike the typical Male specimen, salivating as their eyes burst from their sockets to get a better look at this cosmic goddess.
But I wasn’t looking.

I was comforted by my wife’s beauty, her home cooked meals and her magnetic personality,
her charm and grace and the home that we made.

Besides this girl is half my age,
with her silky smooth skin and her twin peaks of glory, with her legs slightly crossed displaying her ankle bracelet and each toe painted in burning Sapphire.

But I kept my composure, even though she tossed her hair over her shoulder, requested the next stop and stood tall like Gal Gadot,

But I wasn’t looking.
